Hi everyone,
Wondering if anyone has done this in their home?
I was initially going to have a dedicated study room drawn into the plans as both my husband and I work from home quite often, however it would just be the two of us using it and it'd be easier to have it in our room using a smaller space.
Aside from Metricon Bordeaux, does anyone know of any there designs that have this? Or if you've done this, I'd love to see it.
Thanks for any advice

So basically you need an oversized bedroom?
With a separate one it would make it a lot more flexible rather than only having access via the master bedroom.
If you only need a small space then you can pretty well add a nook or niche anywhere, including in the master bedroom.
You could simply push a niche into say the WIR space, add a desk and some shelving.

I agree with gillybean. Have always though a modification of something like this would work well as a study nook.

Hi Gillybean,
Essentially, yes but I'm looking for help specifically with layout. Our master bedroom will be 11.5 m x 6.5 m so large in size. I am having trouble finding layouts that have a master study included.
We currently have a 12 sqm study in our current house, but it is downstairs and this is what we are wanting to avoid in the new build. If we're working from home during the day, it's no issue as both our young kids are in daycare or other care, however quite often we have to carry out some work at night and with two kids who wake often, it's difficult to have to continue running up the stairs or prevent them from coming down to us. Having the study in our master allows us to even have our kids in our bed whilst we get work done if they're unwell/restless or any other reason and still be near them.
Upstairs does not accommodate for a dedicated study in the new build due to setbacks and limitations, nor does a nook suit our needs, although in the new build we have put in a nook near the kitchen/family space, free to use by anyone as suggested.
By smaller space, I mean something around 3 x 2 in size. We have a pc each, then 3 work laptops and 2 work tablets some of which we need to run simultaneously. A nook unfortunately does not allow us the space to carry out our work effectively.

Thank you
I have included something similar to this in the downstairs space, but without the doors.

11.5 x 6.5 master, i think is a bit excessive. make it 8 x 6.5 and have a 3.5 x 6.5 study

I think they are including their WIR & ensuite in that measurement, if not then I fully concur with you.

Yes, youre right, that measurement includes the ensuite and WIR. So there will be a small space for a study, just trying to work out layouts.

Can you put your plan up? Or the one that you like so far? That way we can give you some opinions...

Yeah, sure can.
Here's the Metricon Bordeaux first floor plan which shows the master study. Our ensuite will have a bath in addition to what you see, and somewhere in the space we will have a dressing area as shown in the Masterton Tempus Elite design (marked in red) and pictured. We are building a custom home, so I'm just taking some ideas off these plans.
Our Architect is currently drawing up concept sketch so I will share that too once I receive it. Thanks for everyone's advice and input

My daughter currently has the exact same set up as the Masterton plan (they must of stolen my idea!), Iwould think you will need a good couple of meters in depth, so that it can be out of the way because it will be a thoroughfare, not sure you would want it that close to the bathroom and potential smells though.....

Neither my husband or I are fans of the open bathroom concept. Some things should still be private!
I don't want the dresser space near the bathroom, but finding it difficult to imagine another layout especially as ive seen this on display.

Ahh ok, I thought the area you circled was for the study area....if its part of the dressing area then it will work well.
Our daughters just has drawers, with a mirror and she uses it to do her hair and makeup, if it was me (for our ensuite...) I'd recess it back another half a metre or so, so that it was a proper nook, and you could put a nice chair in there without it being an obstruction. We have a sliding door between the wardrobe/dressing area and her ensuite.
